Ever tried to make sense of Google Analytics 4? It can be confusing. But don’t worry, here’s how you give someone admin access in a few easy steps.
Step 1: Log In
First, fire up your browser, and head over to Google Analytics. Use your Google account to log in.
Step 2: Navigate to Admin
Once you're in, look at the bottom-left corner. See that gear icon? Click it.
This takes you to the Admin panel.
Step 3: Select Account Access Management
Click the account access management link and the blue button. Add users.
Step 4: Add New User
In Access Management, find the big blue plus (+) button at the top right. Hit it and choose “Add users.”
Step 5: Enter Email
Now, type in the person’s email address. Make sure it’s the one linked to their Google account. Otherwise, it won’t work.
Step 6: Choose Permissions
Quick description of these access levels:
1. Administrator – This includes the highest permission level. The owners and main stakeholders should be the only one who has this permission level.
2. Editor – Has all the permissions of the Administrator level except for managing users. Use this if you need to give someone full access to everything in your analytics accounts without giving them the ability to add/remove users.
3. Marketer – This permission level is what's mostly used for freelancer/agency access. If you need to give them access, this permission level is more than sufficient in most cases.
4. Analyst – This permission level provides the same access with the viewer level with the ability to create dashboards.
5. Viewer – This is usually used if you want to provide a read-only access to your analytics account.
Step 7: Notify the User
There's a checkbox to notify them by email. Make sure it's checked, so they know you’ve shared access.
Step 9: Hit Add
Finally, smash that “Add” button. Boom!
They’re now a user of your Google Analytics account.
Simple, right? Just a few clicks and you’ve shared the analytics love.
Now, you can manage the data together without any fuss.
